Words can’t fully express how much this incredible dance studio means to our family. It has not only nurtured my daughter’s love of dance but has brought out a confidence, happiness, and sense of belonging that has changed her life. What makes the studio so special is the heart behind it – and that heart starts with the owner and director, Kim. Kim’s passion, warmth and dedication to every student radiates through every instructor, every class, and every performance. The Happening is more than a place to learn dance, it is a second home, a community and a source of joy. The instructors, classes, choreography, and performances are all top-notch (the year-end show is truly the best out there!). The new studio is absolutely incredible and a perfect reflection of everything The Happening stands for. Thank you, Kim, and thank you to all the instructors and staff, for leading with so much love and passion and for creating a space where so many dancers are able to shine. We look forward to being a part of the Happening community for many years to come and would highly recommend to everyone!

I can happily say I know many of the lovely humans who have posted reviews! This isn’t just a dance studio—it’s a community. Families find connection here. What a privilege and joy to watch this business grow since the beginning. Its evolution has been nothing short of inspiring. The owner and founder Kimberly Stevenson is incredibly dedicated—not only as a teacher but as someone who genuinely cares for each person. You're known by name, supported in a way that nurtures both technique and spirit, and welcomed whether you're here for recreation or competition. The instructors are fantastic—skilled, encouraging, and passionate about helping each dancer thrive. Along the way, you may not first understand the magic, and then you’ll see the Year End performances and be blown away! It’s is a wonderful celebration of everyone's hard work and growth. If you can, consider volunteering back stage to be a part of the nerves, excitement and energy. Now, WOW! The new studio is amazing—inviting, inspiring, and perfect for learning. It reflects the heart and vision of a business that continues to grow with purpose. I highly recommend The Happening Dance to anyone looking for a place to belong, learn, and shine!

My experience with The Happening Dance Company was very disappointing. As a parent of a child with special needs, I expected kindness and understanding, but the communication from the owner was cold and unhelpful. I felt disrespected and dismissed. The classes are also overcrowded, with little space for the children to move naturally. I hope the studio improves the way it treats families and manages class sizes in the future.

The Happening is a special place. All of our girls have grown up here. Premier instruction, wholesome and safe, and rich community. Doesn't get better. Our family is all very proud to be part of this!

It's been a joy to attend and film the shows over the past number of years. The performances are filled with unparalleled heart and energy, and it's evident learning the technical skills of dance is only the start of what students can expect to gain at The Happening Dance.

Harbour Dance Centre on Granville St in Vancouver offers diverse ballet classes led by highly skilled instructors. Reviews praise kind, encouraging teachers, clear corrections, and a welcoming community. Studios are clean, spacious, and well lit with quality flooring and great sound, and many classes feature a live pianist.
