5pm reservation for 4 on NYE. Greeted warmly and seated promptly in an overflow room. Service was quick and efficient but devoid of any personality, just business and no humour. We were obviously a task to be completed. Wife had bleu cheese filet, daughter had sirloin and crab cake, mom had prime rib and I had baseball sirloin. All were very good but the filet was the clear winner. Definitely skip the twice baked potato, get a baked potato with all the fixings and you will be much happier. Wedge salad was good. Mushrooms Neptune and bacon wrapped scallops appetizers very good. Bill with a generous tip and 2 beers was $450. This was my first time at the Keg, I dont think I will return because the waiter put a real damper on an otherwise celebratory evening.
We're familiar with The Keg as a Canadian restaurant chain, and the Gilbert location is the best we've experienced. It's a classic steakhouse, albeit less formal than its counterpart to the north. The eclectic happy hour menu and drink specials are hard to beat. Seared ahi tuna really elevates a fish taco, and the bacon wrapped scallops were cooked to perfection. The prime rib sliders were also several notches above any sliders that we've experienced. Don't forget the 18 ounce draft beer for only $6 until 6:00 pm. Overall, a surprisingly good value for outstanding food and beverages.
Let’s just say I was pretty satisfied. First time at the keg, and I felt like I was inside a homey wooden cabin. The sides came and I was thoroughly impressed with the Mac and cheese’s flavor and pull. After came the mains, and I ordered a 14 oz prime rib that was… drier than Death Valley. However, the dessert was extremely delicious. Our server and the staff were extremely caring and accommodating, making my table feel at home. Sides: -Caesar Brussel Sprouts -Baked Brie -Mac n Cheese Mains: -Prime Rib Sandwich with Fries -The Keg Burger with a Baked Potato -Salmon and Mashed Potatoes -Grilled Chicken and Mashed Potatoes -3x 14 oz Medium Rare Prime Rib (Different Sides) Dessert: -2x Sticky Toffee Puddings I would recommend the sticky toffee pudding and the medium rare prime rib, as I tasted the others and came to a conclusion that it was mine that was dry. Prices are also somewhat steep, so keep that in mind.
We usually do steak night at home but for my birthday I was dreaming of prime rib. Theirs fit the bill perfectly. We've eaten here a few times at holidays and celebrations and it's always been stellar. We just moved to Arizona permanently and were celebrating my birthday and our move. We're originally from Kansas City where there's either a chain or local steak place in throwing distance. We've had some of the best in the country there. This one is right up there. It was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. You know it's a well marbled, quality cut when you can cut it with your fork. In addition to my prime rib, my husband ordered the bone-in rib steak (what we call tomahawk steaks), and his was also cooked perfectly to his preferred medium doneness. It was well seasoned and only needed a butter knife to cut. His came with sautéed vegetables as well. Both of us selected the twice baked potato as our side. They were crispy on the top but perfectly creamy with all the flavor on the inside. They were also some of the largest we've had at any steakhouse, including some of the high end local spots in KC. We're definitely planning on returning to try their other cuts and their sides. It's a repeat spot going forward for us.
First time here and thoroughly enjoyed it! I had the Old Fashioned (very good) as well as the Kegnog (Really good if you like eggnog) and the wife had the Orange Slice Martini Appetizers were Calamari and Bacon Scallops skewer. Both were very good as were the sauces that came with the order. Dinner was Blackened Chicken, The Keg Burger, The Kansas City Strip Loin and The Chilean Seabass. All 4 are in the picture. Drinks were great! Food was excellent! The service was top notch! Highly recommend and will definitely return
