Came here for dinner last night. There were 6 in our party. This restaurant is located on the 36th floor of the Ala Moana Hotel. They validate parking but still had to pay $6. As always, this place is exceptional when it comes to the service. Our steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It melted in our mouths. The mushroom risotto was delicious and so was the garlic truffle mashed potatoes. We put a couple of orders in for their special Russian caviar and it was the highlight of our meal. 1 star leas because two of our dessert spoon la were dirty. It still had dried food stuck on it. But the creme brûlée was a perfect ending to our dinner.
You come here for the view and the atmosphere. And if it’s December, you come for the holiday vibe —cheery, sparkly decor and pianist playing covers you want to sing to. We came here on a Saturday night and it was pretty much standing room only. The prices are a bit much for what it is. We ordered 4 starters — largely seafood and then followed with a ribeye steak and dessert and obviously drinks. The ahi tartare was really good as was the toro negi wraps. The crab cakes and raw scallops were okay. The meat was cooked to perfection. The potato side that comes with it was a little glue-y. The atmosphere was celebratory and our waiter was friendly and introduced his partner so they could tag team our table which was helpful when we wanted more water or a drink since it was so busy. Come for the view and a party and less so for the food.
Wonderful view from above. Happy hour at the bar specials are a steal. Told to come early for happy hour because items sell out fast. Wonderful friendly helpful bar staff. Had a glass of Malbec with steak bits with mushrooms and onions, as I wasn’t that hungry but I had to try something! It had a bit of spice to it, but I loved it! So flavorful!
Took my wife out for her birthday dinner and everything was great. I mentioned the occasion when making the reservation, and Brandon, our server, did an excellent job. He was friendly, and attentive. The food and drinks tasted amazing, and the whole atmosphere was romantic and relaxing with a beautiful view. Definitely recommend coming here for a nice date night or special occasion. We had a great experience.
My first visit to The Signature was an absolutely outstanding experience. The elevator wait for happy hour can be a bit long, (around 20 minutes) so a separate line for reservations might be helpful. But once you step off the elevator and see the sweeping views of Honolulu, the ocean, and the sunset, it’s easy to forget the wait. I had a reservation that evening (note that reservations are for the full dinner menu, not happy hour pricing), and it was well worth it. My total came to about $169 before tip for one person, which was fair given the quality and setting. I was seated in the southwest corner, a perfect sunset view, and the service was excellent from start to finish. My water glass never ran empty, and my server was professional, kind, and efficient. I started with the French onion soup, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly melted on top. For my entrée, I ordered the prime filet and lobster with truffle potato gratin, and the chef kindly sent out garlic mashed potatoes as well. Every dish was beautifully prepared, the steak perfectly cooked, the lobster buttery and tender, and the potatoes flavorful (though the garlic mash may be a bit strong for some). The complimentary bread rolls were warm and perfectly salted with a nice crunch. The live pianist added a wonderful touch, talented and soothing without overpowering the room. My two timeless old fashioneds were mixed flawlessly. Overall, it was one of the most memorable meals I’ve had in Honolulu. On my second visit, I arrived around 6:50 PM hoping to order a few items from the happy hour menu before 7 PM, as advertised on their marketing materials, website, and emails (all clearly stating Happy Hour: 4:30–7:00 PM). However, I was told that food service for happy hour ended at 6:30 PM and that I could only order drinks at full price. This contradicted every piece of marketing I’ve seen, including the flyer they emailed (attached here for reference). It was disappointing and confusing, especially since I mentioned that I knew exactly what I wanted to order and had arrived within the stated time. Consistency in communication is key at this level of dining, and I hope management will align their policies with their advertising to avoid confusion for future guests. That said, The Signature remains a top-tier dining destination. The views, ambiance, and food quality are second to none, and when everything aligns, it’s an unforgettable experience. Parking tip: You can park anywhere in the Ala Moana structure, but the second floor near Macy’s provides the most direct access to the hotel elevators. Despite the minor frustration during my second visit, I’ll absolutely be back, the service, food, and setting make The Signature a must-visit for both locals and visitors alike.
