UPV have been amazing for my Guinea pigs. They have been thorough with treatment and investigation of illnesses and their knowledge of long term medication use is amazing. We feel very blessed to have such a skilled team of vets on call if our piggies become unwell because we know they will go above and beyond with their care. We can’t rate them highly enough. All of the vet nurses too are really lovely and friendly!

Can’t praise enough the awesome team at The Unusual Pet Vets at Fyshwick. Dr Savannah Spillett was so gentle with my cockatiel, and provided her all the care she needed. Even my cockatiel understood how good she was handling her and didn’t struggle or bite. All the doctors there are wonderful. Thanks.

Our baby budgie boy Yai Yai bit twice on the dumb cane plant on Boxing Day and he got sick. Couldn’t get in any vet on the day. Booked the Unusual Pet Vet Canberra for 28/12. Daniella, the vet texted me and checking on how Yai Yai was doing. I asked to be put on a cancellation list for 27/12. They called me on 27/12 and said that they had a cancellation but Yai Yai had been a bit better. However, I would still like to have him checked out. We usually go to the Unusual Pet Vet in Waterloo but we are in the country so need to see a vet close by (even it is 2 1/2 hours drive away). Daniella found out Yai Yai’s medical file on the system even it is from their Waterloo site. That made things easy. Amazingly, Daniella saw/treated my previous budgie boy Jai Jai (who passed away in June this year) in Waterloo 5 1/2 years ago when she was in Waterloo. The vet in Fyshwick, Canberra is very easy to find. The vet is very clean and well designed. Lucy at the front desk spoke very kindly to the babies (Yai Yai’s was accompanied by his brother Gai Gai as well). The staff was on time and Yai Yai was seen by Daniella. Daniella worked out a plan to treat him with weigh check, crop and faecal check and also administered fluid therapy hopefully to wash the toxin out of Yai Yai’s system before it got worse. After the consultation, Daniella even showed us the nursing area where the surgical room, the pharmacy and the back office were. The vet is set up professionally and very hygienic. I knew that Yai Yai would be in good hands. Since we are 2 1/2 hours away from the vet, we also had to do a bit of shopping and Daniella said that we could leave the boys at the vet. Daniella also gave Yai Yai two fluid therapy , one at 10am and the other at 2pm. We collected the boys at 2pm. We were also given the instructions on how to administer medication for Yai Yai. We got home around 6pm. Yai Yai was looking a lot better. Now, Yai Yai is flying like his normal self and is very happy and chirpy. He is bobbing his little budgie head a lot. Thanks to all the staff, especially Daniella because she really gave Yai Yai the care that he needed. I recommend the Unusual Pet Vet Canberra because the staff are all very caring to our baby budgie boys.

We took our lil bunny, Bumble, to UPV Canberra on 30/12 with clear sings of GI stasis. Dr Will assessed her and decided to keep her in with fluids as her blood tests were a bit altered. We receive calls to informed us how she was doing on a regular basis. The second day Dr. Danielle assessed Bumble and recommended us to take her to ARH as she wasn’t improving much and they closed on 1/1 being a PH. They sent very comprehensive notes on Bumble’s treatment and all her medicines. They also called ARH and arranged everything for us so we just had to dropped her off and they were already waiting for her. Dr Danielle also checked on us today, a PH to check how our baby bun was doing. We are very grateful for this amazing team of vets and the care and service they provide. Our Bumble is hopefully on the mend thanks to their care 🤍

I had my first appointment today at The Unusual Pet Vet in Fyshwick with Dr Kelly Giles, and it was hands down one of the best veterinary experiences I’ve ever had. Dr Giles was incredibly kind, patient, and exceptionally generous with her time. I attended the consultation with my sister, as she will be fostering my Eclectus parrot while I relocate overseas, and Dr Giles took such care in ensuring we both felt informed and supported. Her depth of knowledge was outstanding, and she shared so much practical, thoughtful advice to help a new parrot owner feel confident in providing the very best care. She was wonderfully gentle, calm, and loving with my male Eclectus, and her attention to detail and genuine passion for what she does was so clear throughout the entire appointment. We never felt rushed, and every question was met with care and clarity. I’m incredibly grateful for her expertise and warmth. If you’re looking for an avian or unusual pet vet who truly cares and goes above and beyond, I can’t recommend Dr Kelly Giles highly enough. Absolutely fantastic.
