To preface, I am not a client of this firm and after the interaction I had with one of their employees today, I certainly never will be and will steer all those I know away from this company as well. While they may be competent in financial matters, their front desk staff lacks professionalism. TransAmerica is housed in a SHARED office space. I was in this SHARED waiting room today, while waiting on my son who had an appointment with a provider who has an office in this shared space. My infant began to cry and despite my efforts, I was not successful in soothing him. The front desk lady proceeded to make an unprofessional comment— insinuating she knew how to better care for my son than I (his mother) did. This served to only heighten an already stressful situation. I pulled my son out of his appointment early and promptly left as I do understand that in a SHARED waiting room the crying can be disrupting. However, this situation is made worse as this is the second instance of unprofessionalism I have experienced by this employee, as I overheard her make an unprofessional comment to another coworker regarding my son on another date. It’s quite clear this employee is void of professionalism but more so, compassion. As it doesn’t take much to withhold snide comments and offer a touch of understanding. It is also a disservice to the other providers who utilize this office space, as they have no control over how this individual treats their clients.
