We have worked with Ultimate Canine for over a year now and HIGHLY recommend them. It is well worth the investment. The entire team is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, friendly and accommodating. It’s clear they love dogs and are passionate about what they do. We’ve actually had a few neighbors work with them on specific training needs since and have also heard nothing but positive things. We welcomed home our golden retriever, Rosie, when she was a little puppy last January. At the time, we had a 1.5 year old and I was pregnant with our second. My husband and I felt insane bringing a puppy into the mix, and knew we needed to work with a reputable dog trainer to feel comfortable in our decision. At first, we purchased 5 in home lessons and immediately started working with Tyler when Rosie came home. It was amazing how quickly Rosie picked up basic skills (and then some) but even more surprised how much Tyler taught us. Outside of the basic commands, he helped us understand how to handle a puppy around a mess of toddler toys, he helped us understand how to handle puppy nipping, potty training, crate training, etc. He’s also helped Rosie become great on leash - including walking next to a stroller / wagon. I’m able to easily take her on a daily walk with the kids in a stroller which was a big thing for me. When I went to the hospital to give birth to our second, Rosie stayed at ultimate canine for a 2+ week “Stay and Train”, she was about 6 months old at the time. Tyler was her trainer during the program too, it made us feel better knowing she was with someone familiar (who she absolutely adores, although we’ve come to learn she loves the entire team there). I also have to give a shoutout to their customer service team - I can’t tell you how many times I called ahead of the birth of our second to figure out the best date to drop her off/extend her stay, etc. I was so nervous about the logistics of everything ahead of time. They were always accommodating and patient - it was greatly appreciated! When she “graduated” and came home, she seemed like a completely different dog. Incredibly well behaved. So comfortable with the newborn, an expert on all commands (“Place” included which was a lifesaver at the time). You do need to keep up on the training which we are honestly not the best at. We’ve definitely called in for “refresher” sessions. Rosie had a follow up lesson around the 1 year mark, and again, she came home perfectly behaved. Outside of training services, we’ve also boarded Rosie at Ultimate Canine a handful of times, taken her for grooming once a month (Sarah is also fantastic) and have dropped her off for doggie daycare. She’s always SO happy to visit Ultimate Canine and always comes home with “polished manners”. Can’t say enough positive things about the entire team - well worth the investment!

Just picked up our Mosely after a two week Stay and Train. His trainer, Jolene, did an incredible job with him. She was very informative and helpful during the entire process. His graduation session helped us to see what he had learned and allowed us to practice the commands ourselves to give us the confidence to continue his training at home.

Ultimate Canine is truly remarkable. I’m a LEO widow who struggles with severe anxiety, leaving the house is hard for me to do, going to family events feels like too much, I often live in my head which isn’t always the best place to be. My oldest daughter also struggles with anxiety, we’ve done grief therapy, sports, extracurriculars, meditation. All the things that everyone suggests but losing your loved one leaves behind a pain and trauma that doesn’t always go away. I was looking for a few specific things in a dog, mainly their ability to perform pressure therapy and provide comfort. I got everything and more out of my dog, Syl, who was trained by the amazing, Joe. Joe told me that I’d get as much out of this as I was willing to put into it and that Syl would teach me a lot about myself. She’s only been here a few days but boy, was he right. She has helped me in ways I didn’t even know I needed and I am so grateful for Ultimate Canines willingness to help. Having Syl is also helping my daughter find her voice and grow a confidence that I haven’t seen in her since she was 4, seeing your kid work toward an objective and give REAL full on smiles from a dogs “visits” after years of a stoicism no child should have to know is a beautiful thing. All this to say, if you’re looking for a trainer/companion dog or service dog, look no further. Ultimate Canine is who you and your family need. I am forever grateful and don’t have enough words to express how much they have already changed our lives for the better. Thank you Julie for being so open to what I was looking for and to Joe for still dealing with all of my questions. I genuinely cannot wait to continue Syls training with you all with home visits because while you’re helping me teach Syl, you’re also helping me face my own struggles. Thank you for helping me navigate this new journey.

Incredible training, people, high caliber and personal who love what they do…we cannot say enough about how amazing our new dog from Ultimate Canine has been . This place is beyond - and their experience, where their dogs go (police, schools, medical, rehab and family etc!) says so much Thank you Julie, Sheila & team! If you’re a busy person or family like ours (or a mom like me who says “we’re not getting a dog) this is for you or if If you want a well-trained dog that can truly fit into your life, Ultimate Canine is exceptional. Whether you already have a dog that needs training or you’re starting from the beginning and want help finding the right puppy, their team is the top. Our experience started when we first connected with Julie. From that first conversation we knew we were in good hands. The puppy we had originally seen on their website was no longer available — it had already been placed at a nationally recognized rehabilitation center, which immediately told us a lot about the caliber of dogs they produce. Julie let us know another litter was coming from their preferred breeder in Lafayette and personally evaluated it to help find a puppy with the temperament that would best fit our family. (Other trainers had told us her ability to evaluate temperament behavior personality is unlike anyone they’ve ever seen do this …. & Everything she predicted about our dog has proven to be exactly right. She has decades of experience but truly he is calm, very smart, loving and has great ability to absorb new info as well as adapt to different people and surroundings - things she picked out in him within weeks of birth.) We are a busy family with two working parents and active kids, and our children had never had a pet before. Because of that, we wanted to start with the right training from the beginning rather than trying to fix behaviors later. That decision has been one of the best we’ve made. Our trainer Sheila spent significant time with our dog both at their facility and in real-life settings so he became comfortable around people, kids, and everyday environments. When it was time for him to come home, she spent nearly an entire day with our family for what they call a “puppy graduation.” She walked all of us through his routine, commands, and how to continue reinforcing the training — making sure everyone understood, especially the kids. Even as a puppy he came home with a strong foundation. We can walk him without him barking at every animal he sees. He heels, sits, lays down, comes when called, stays, goes to his kennel or mat, and understands “leave it” or “drop it.” He’s still learning of course, but he consistently responds to these commands, which makes it much easier for us to reinforce the training and truly enjoy him. They also took time to understand our lifestyle — knowing we sometimes work from home or bring the dog to the office — so they trained him to calmly settle on his mat in those environments. I can now bring him to the office and he lays down quietly even when people are coming and going, which is impressive for a puppy. Perhaps the simplest example of their training: we were able to leave him with an in-law over 70 who hadn’t had a pet in more than 40 years, and we had zero concern it wouldn’t go well. That alone says a lot. Ultimate Canine trains dogs of many breeds and ages, from family companions to dogs placed in professional environments where temperament and reliability matter. They also offer boarding and continued training, which we will definitely use. These aren’t just professionals — they are professionals who truly care, and that shows in everything they do. I highly recommend Julie and the entire Ultimate Canine team.

For a successful company one needs the following;: -Great People -Great Facilities/Resources -Organizational Commitment to Excellence This Company has all three plus, plus! We wanted to purchase a dog for our family, and when we provided the owner with the key traits of a perfect dog for us, the owner, Julie, stepped in and found our current dog. He fell in Love with us and we fell in Love with him just over a long weekend of bonding. He is now in training with us and the 1st session today was way beyond my expectations...GREAT!! My wife and I have been so super impressed with this company including: Selection of a dog, facilities, people, and the organization's superb commitment to excellence at all levels of this organization that I felt I had to write this review. I want to personally thank each of the people we've interacted with in this 5-Star+ Company. All of the people we've met are 5-Stars+. Julie, Nic, Tyler, Rebecca, Jolene, Emily, and I may have forgotten a few.... They are all great and they will do their best to exceed your expectations on dog selection, training, short/long term kenneling, plus any and everything you need for your dog. We cannot thank Joe enough for what he has done for our family and for Hershey. When we first sent our chocolate lab to training, he was wild — full of energy, stubborn, and honestly a handful. We had hope, but we truly didn’t know how much of a transformation was possible in such a short time. After just two weeks with Joe, Hershey came back to us like a brand-new dog. He’s calmer, more focused, better behaved, and so much happier. Joe has an incredible way with dogs — patient, consistent, and clearly passionate about what he does. What means the most to us is that Joe didn’t just train Hershey, he gave our whole family peace of mind and the tools to continue the work at home. We are beyond grateful and so appreciative of the care, dedication, and love Joe put into our boy. If you’re on the fence about training, trust us — Joe is worth it. Hershey is proof. 🐾🤎
