I have been going to Woodhouse Day Spa in Rochester for a few years now. I always book my massage with Kim. She is amazing! She has such a calming nature about her, she is a very skilled massage therapist, and she is knowledgeable about her practice. In addition, the gentleman at the front desk is always pleasant. I can't remember his name, but each time I stop in for an appointment he is attentive and very kind.
Nice spa (welcoming, warm, easy booking, nice locker room, nice relaxation room and good service for drinks/general needs.) I did a treat day for my Birthday (I typically go to Birmingham but decided to stay closer to home and I will say do something a pinch more "affordable" noting it's still pricey) but the services were mediocre for the price. My skin looked lovely post facial and the facialist was very nice - nothing wildly special though. Personally, I don't love facials where they are wearing gloves. Where I struggle (and did tell the receptionist) was with my massage. I booked months ahead to ensure a Birthday spot (with a Holiday birthday knowing it gets busy) and was referred to Nate. Post experience, both my facialist and receptionist said "wow, I don't know why someone would refer him, he's not the deep tissue guy." I really explicitly said during booking I know I need whoever can supply the most pressure so bummed here. I was very vocal during the experience and asked for more pressure 3X and it still did not feel deep tissue. Where I really struggle and why I want to leave more feedback for the spa is that he never acknowledged what I was saying and never spoke back to me/responded out loud when I was communicating with him. Only once when I asked him not to do my legs did he reply (on the 3rd time of me asking ensuring it was loud enough) he finally kind of let out an ok and said he'd move on to my back. He also never asked how the pressure was. Most (good) providers will do this once they get going a few minutes in. General feedback, please have your service providers speak to those that they are servicing. I know so many people aren't even confident enough to say something so it's up to them to check in and make sure it's all going well. I on the other hand am vocal enough (I know I need ultra deep tissue) but to not be acknowledged was wild.
Woodhouse is absolutely amazing! As soon as you arrive you are greeted with a smile! Personalized locker with your name on it is a nice touch and if you have a special event they’ll make sure to acknowledge it! Soft robe and sandals to change in to before your experience and the Hot cinnamon sunset tea and a mimosa help you unwind before you get your service. I especially like that they don’t kick you out (I like to relax a little more after my services). Woodhouse is apart of my monthly regimen! Love them! 🥰🥰
Every time I come here, I have the best experience. The front desk staff are so welcoming and inviting, the spa itself is beautiful, and the estheticians are knowledgeable and kind. I leave feeling so relaxed. Their tea is delicious and I love quiet room that you can relax in before your services.
Yesterday I visited the Woodhouse Spa in Rochester Hills. As I entered, two very friendly attendants were quick to welcome me and offered some tea or a mimosa. One of them took me to the changing room and gave me a nice plush robe and rubber slippers to wear. I loved their calm yet friendly approach, as well as the details of having my name on my locker, and another name inside the relaxation room which already had my mimosa waiting for me. The mimosa was tasty, you could both taste the OJ and the Champaign! The tea option also looked pretty cute in the nice tea cup, so I had a Ginger Peach tea after my massage. The ambiance light was nice, as well as the sounds and the scent. The snack bar had many tasty treats for all palates. I chose their Signature Calming Retreat package, which gave you a little bit of everything, including a dry brush scrub (that you get to keep), foot scrub and I believe it was their only option that included a scalp component. My masseuse was Jen, and she was excellent! My only suggestion would be to place more lounger chairs in the relaxation room, there’s only two and although the foot stools are nice, having a complete lounger couch felt much nicer and comfy. Lastly, getting here is super easy and they have a big parking lot super close by, so no hassle there. All in all, it was a great relaxing experience and I can see myself coming back!
