Kinokuniya is one of Sydney’s finest bookshops and a rare example of a truly world-class bookstore. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The range is outstanding, the space is calm and generous, and it remains a place where books, and readers, are taken seriously. The breadth and depth of the collection is exceptional, spanning literature and history through to architecture, design, transport, art, and international titles that are often impossible to find elsewhere. There are hidden treasures everywhere! The curation rewards curiosity and supports both casual browsing and deep, specialist interests. The store itself is beautifully laid out and encourages unhurried discovery. Serious readers, professionals, students, and families coexist comfortably, and the staff are knowledgeable without being intrusive. In an era where many bookshops have been reduced to novelty retail, Kinokuniya stands apart as a cultural anchor - somewhere you go not just to buy a book, but to spend time. There is even a cafe, to allow you to take a moment, with your new purchase. 👌
Pleasant experience here today. Im thrill to see so many new authors/books here. Crime and thrillers section’s such a blast. The bookstore is well organized, very crowded but everyone’s polite and seem to be very well invested in their time here. Nice staffs.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing bookstore experience! During the school holidays my daughter asked to visit a bookstore — I nearly fell over since she’s usually glued to her iPad 😅. We jumped on public transport to Kinokuniya Sydney, and wow, what a place! She spent nearly two hours exploring every section while I enjoyed a great coffee and matcha cake in their café. Huge range, great vibe, and such a refreshing change seeing a kid excited about books again. Highly recommend!
On the top floor of the Galeries shopping centre, Kinokuniya is a bookstore displaying a variety of physical, audio & comic books in a variety of languages. You can access the store from the nearby Town Hall station / light rail stop. Just beaware that often, the escalator either up/down is closed, so use the stairs!

Sydney's premier destination for global literature and cultural discovery.
