I visit cakders restuerant in Newton Mearns often. However my vist today was VERY dissapointing. We ordered fish and chips. The batter on the fish was raw and doughy and the fish inside tge raw batter was very small. We then had coffee and neringue which were nice. When paying for tge lunch I presented a voucher for lunch for 2 which was given to me by my granddaughter. I mentioned to the manager that the fish batter was raw and about the kack of fish inside the awful batter. He answered by saying he would let the chef knowvabout this. Baducall we actualky inly ate a very small piece of fish as the rest if it was inedible. To make matters wirse he then overcharged us. We had irdered meringues with our coffee and were aware we would oay the differece in orice to tge classic cakes which came with the lunch viycger. He charged us doubke what he should have and had diffuculty calculating the amount we should pay. He then handed the task iver to the young girl at tge ither till who wirked the cost out easily which was galf the amount the manager was charging. I fekt that given we were oresented with an inedible neal he should have disregarded tge £2.50 extra charge fir the money dufference with the cakes. Any ither resturant who had oresented such a horrible meal would have made a complenentary gesture. I certainly wont be back to Calders Newton mearns as it certainly was a zero value neal at a cist of £44.50- qute shameful.

“I’ve been going to Caulders Garden Centre in Newton Mearns for a while now, and it’s always good. It’s clean and well laid out. The Christmas decorations this year are really nice, with lots of good quality stuff to choose from. I also visited the café, which was very busy, but it didn’t take long to get seated. The staff were really friendly from start to finish. The food came out quick and tasted great. Would definitely recommend visiting.”

Wonderful setting, lovely views from the cafe. In the cafe had a lovely coffee, and a generous slice of a caramel apple pie, custard AND ice-cream, thank you! The gardening supplies, pots and whatnots all displayed in appropriate sections, and the sections flow well. A wonderful array of all sorts of plants, bushes, and flowers. The shop is filled with all sorts of goodies, with alot to look at. Many seasonal goods, but one of only a few retail places to buy Highland Soap, (Natural, Organic soap, with no nasties) in Glasgow, and Central Belt. And the staff, in the cafe, shop, and yard were very friendly, welcoming and highly knowledgeable... The Lady in Gardening supplies gave me a number of tips for rejuvenating a row of bushes with new plantings. #1 - Top marks to all the staff, the location, although only really accessible by car, views are rewarding, the shop has quality product lines, and the coffee and pie were excellent. Cakes look to be made on site. I dare say all the food is excellent in the cafe. A lovely place to just sit and have a look out the big back window. For garden centres, I had a rare old time to myself! 😅 ...and will go out my way to be back at Caulders soon.

Great service with a friendly checkout lady who I had a nice chat with. Picked up discounted pots, different potted herbs, and some potting soil. Good selection of herbs, all with a summer discount. Will visit again!

Excellent view for outdoor. Can enjoy the view a part of Glasgow! A bit windy without any showering. Great. Food was just so so. 1 Star up for the atmosphere and view.
