Disgusting customer care and quality of craftsmanship. If I could give zero stars I would. Disgraceful customer service and quality. Came to re-size 2 gold chains, one of which was a vintage piece and bought as a gift. Upon arriving there was a man who greeted and didn’t seem particularly interested or had next to no client care, nevertheless I still went ahead. Upon collection my vintage piece was completely ruined, I was told several times not to move the piece around which was probably a way to disguise the damage. Part of the chain did not flow as the rest and seemed stiff and soldered. The lady was very nice I will say and tried to defend the work as it “had been very difficult and the younger lad had worked on it for hours”. Quite frankly I’m paying for a service and when I vocalised I was not happy the piece was taken to the back and “re-plated” to cover up the damage they claimed was already there and they’d tried to fix it. I was still not happy with the result, this was a vintage Italian piece and bought as a special gift, it was completely ruined. I told them the piece was worth several hundred pounds which was paid, the young lad was incredibly rude and childish, he proceeded to badmouth the piece in the back stating it was “rubbish quality anyway” etc. The young lad tried to offer to repair the piece further however I had no trust in his workmanship and professionalism at this point and I asked to cash the piece in as scrap along with the first chain as I’d upgraded elsewhere. I was offered less than £400 for both pieces, when I told them the cost of the Italian piece the taller man who sat at the computer with a glazed look and nothing much to say stated that they wouldn’t give more than the scrap gold price, I asked again to see if we could meet on the price somewhere and he laughed in my face stating “that’s the price of gold at the moment” even though it’s not my fault the piece was ruined. So I am now several hundreds of pounds out of pocket. I am deeply upset by this entire experience, I tried to resolve and was met with the most disgusting and unprofessional service I have ever encountered in my life when dealing with luxury products. I would highly recommend anyone thinking about going to repair jewellery to use Hyman’s by the Corn Exchange who have recently re-sized a gold chain of mine that is worth over £1000 pound (thank goodness I went here for this piece) and I am very pleased with their service, quality of care and their customer care is extremely professional. Steer clear and be warned! In addition to your response, I did state I would leave a negative review not intended as a threat but because of the shocking and poor care you have for your clients which continues to show in your response. You made no attempt to repay the damage caused, laughed in my face, insulted my jewellery, and coupled with the appalling customer care I don’t think you should expect anything less than an unsavoury review.

I can’t recommend Dalton’s enough - staff are so helpful and the craftsmanship is superb. A proper working jewellers so items never leave the premises and no lost items. Dalton’s have just completed work on 3 gold rings after they were cut off when I broke my hand - I’m absolutely delighted with what they’ve done.
