We've had a fantastic experience here- the philosophy of home life being incorporated into their class development is working wonders for our 4 year old. It has been beneficial for him and for the whole family! Highly recommend checking them out for a consistent and fun addition to your schedule.

Family Black Belt Academy is a wonderful community that offers support and guidance in martial arts as well as life skills and behavioral support. The instructors are engaged, connected and friendly. I really appreciate their openness and acceptance of my gender non-binary child, everyone makes an effort to use their correct pronouns. The flexibility of being able to attend any class (at your level) throughout the week is great - it allows us to fit this activity into our busy schedule. I am always amazed at how the instructors remember everyone’s name (students and families members), they check in regularly and offer 1:1 behavior coaching if this is needed. They offer regular and frequent milestones to keep students engaged and motivated. We love being part of the Family Black Belt community.

Our kids love being part of the Family Black Belt Academy. The instructors have kept them engaged and motivated since day one and both kids are learning about discipline and responsibility while working towards their black belt.

This institution is remarkable. They have a cohesive approach to enriching and improving families, individuals, and especially children through rigorous fitness, practical defense, and most importantly, applicable life skills that are all too lacking these days. I earned a second degree black belt many years ago at a similarly high positive energy martial arts school, and I can say with over a decade of experience behind that process that these guys are doing things the right way. And I trust them to guide my kid on the same path I took. The instructors are positive, friendly, professional, and safe. The true value in this extra curricular in general is hard to summarize or quantify, because if it clicks it can and will change your life for the better. This place felt familiar the first time I stepped foot in there. Five stars!

If you’re looking for a martial arts school that's more than just a place to learn kicks and punches, look no further than Family Black Belt Academy in Seattle. This is a place where genuine community, expert instruction, and a positive atmosphere come together to create an truly exceptional experience for students of all ages. From the moment you walk through the door, you're greeted with warmth and respect. The instructors are not just masters of their craft; they are passionate mentors who genuinely care about the growth of every single student. They have an incredible ability to balance discipline with encouragement, pushing students to achieve their full potential while making every class fun and engaging. I've watched them work with nervous beginners and seasoned veterans alike, and their patience and dedication are truly inspiring. Beyond the technical skills of martial arts, Family Black Belt Academy excels at teaching life lessons. My own child, who was once quite shy, has blossomed into a confident and focused individual. The lessons in discipline, respect, and perseverance are woven into every class, building character that extends far beyond the dojo. It's an environment where hard work is celebrated, and everyone is made to feel like part of a family. The sense of community is what sets this academy apart. Parents cheer each other on, students encourage their peers, and the instructors are always available to offer a kind word or a piece of advice. It’s not just a place for physical training; it’s a place to build friendships, gain confidence, and develop a strong sense of self. Family Black Belt Academy is an absolute gem in the Seattle community. It’s a place that teaches not only how to be a better martial artist, but how to be a better person. I can’t recommend it highly enough
