I've been coming to this studio for over a year now. I never noticed it despite driving by it frequently and at first glance, it doesn't seem like the most ideal spot for a yoga studio. It's next to a bus and MAX stop and across from a bar. However, once you step inside, you can feel a different energy and all those city noises grow quiet. Last year, I was suffering from plantar fasciitis and various other injuries and unable to take the yoga classes offered at my gym. I took a Strength & Mobility class on a whim and found that it was something I could do, even with my limitations. I'm up to almost 300 classes now and although I'm not in great physical shape and do not partake in the more challenging classes, my injuries and pain have improved. More importantly, I've found a safe place to put aside stress and worries. Firelight offers a wide variety of yoga classes so there is something for everyone and their schedule. They even offer a journaling class and sound bath classes on top of other workshops. It's basically a full service mental health resource for North Portland. My husband even joined and loves the studio despite having zero background in yoga or group classes. The staff are truly amazing and so genuine; they are the heart of the studio and what makes it so special. All of the instructors are warm, caring and non-judgemental and don't all look like the typical yoga instructor. I am most familiar with Amy, Pati, Wendy, Jess, Lex & Joey who are all outstanding human beings. Amy even contacted me when I was absent from the studio to see if I was ok; she brings so much sensitivity each of her classes. Jess is really encouraging and has gone out of her way to accommodate us when we've messed up and forgot to reserve a space in a class. I've taken a private yoga class from Pati and gone on a day retreat with Wendy & Joey; these instuctors are phenomenal and really give all of themselves to take care of their yoga students. Lex ends her classes telling the students that they are loved- I know for some people that is only affirmation of love that they might receive that day. I could go on and on about the staff (even the front desk stands out- Lisa learned our names after going there for only a week) but the point is that they all seem happy and love what they do. My interactions with the owners have also been very positive. I'm so glad that their vision has come to fruition and that they have succeeded in providing a community center for EVERYONE. It's a second home for many Firelight members. I went to their 10 year anniversary last year and thought it was exceptionally generous with food, drinks, services and prizes. I couldn't belive it when I learned that they put on an event like that every year! Anyway, if you are on the fence, there are sliding scale classes and an affordable trial offer for new members. AND IT'S SPOTLESSLY CLEAN and literally smells like relaxation when you walk in. Someone will be happy to show you around if you are a first timer. Everyone there including other members are very welcoming- just show up.

Love this studio! I moved to Portland in November after finishing my 5th season as a college athlete playing soccer at U Oregon & wanted to invite more peace and community into my life as I opened a new chapter. I class-passed all around NorthEast Portland workout studios & found Firelight to be by far my favorite, & now I come almost every day. They offer a beautiful variety of heated and non-heated classes, and there's always a class available in a time slot that works for my busy schedule. I find myself challenged and building strength in the power vinasa and sculpt classes, and relaxed and revived in gentle vinasa and in Joey's new yoga and journaling class. Grateful to have found such a nice studio that really fuels my needs and fills my cup! I'd recommend it to anyone.

Lex is a wonderful instructor, I had a great time and appreciated her happy vibes, clear instructions & fun cardio dancing! I did a sculpt class, that was a mix of weights, yoga, cardio & magic🐬🧚♀️🥳🧘🏻♀️🫀🏋️♀️💃💖

Attempted to attend my first class. It was way overbooked and there was no where to put my mat. Tried to get a refund for the class and the person on the phone was extremely dismissive. Maybe try and be honest about the capacity of the room instead of trying to squeeze everyone in like sardines.
