Sandye Walpola
This still fledgling serene Theravadi Buddhist temple holds a lot of promise and potential. Bhanthe Pagnasiri Thero was the founding Buddhist monk who’s a blessing from Sri Lanka via New Zealand. He is a senior, most humble and amiable monk one would wish to meet and discuss Dhamma matters in English or Sinhalese alike. He handed over the reigns to Bhanthe Anuradhapura Ariyajeewa Thero to be the new chief incumbent at Gold Coast Buddhist Centre from December 2023. He spearheads various programs for different groups of people despite his own academic pursuits towards a second doctorate. A friendly community looks after the temple. There’s easy access and reasonably ample parking. It is only 1km away from Hindze dam.
