The best meal I have ever eaten in my entire life. I went with my boyfriend for my birthday and we ordered the Caesar salad which was fresh and delicious. We received popovers and garlic butter before our meals arrived. I ordered a 8oz snake river farms wagyu strip loin and it was like butter. My boyfriend ordered the dry aged T bone also phenomenal. We also ordered the duck fat fries and the potato puree both were fantastic. For dessert we ordered a cheesecake and they decorated the plate for my birthday. I also received a birthday card signed by the staff and two complimentary coffee cake muffins to take home. A once in a lifetime experience!
Great experience and proper steaks at Jacobs. From Europe and on a roadtrip across Canada we stopped to have diner there. Sat at the bar. Suck a delightful staff and overall experience. Caesar salad and the porterhouse were on point. Side mushroom is a must. We had Ryan taking care of us who was a true gem. Thanks to him for the great evening despite a small order change. 5* customer service. If you want to indulge it’s a solid choice.
Jacob’s & Co. Steakhouse delivers an exceptional dining experience when it comes to food and service once you’re settled, but the initial welcome left a lot to be desired. The food was outstanding from start to finish—perfectly cooked steaks, excellent quality, and attention to detail that truly lives up to the restaurant’s reputation. Our assigned server was also fantastic: helpful, courteous, and attentive throughout the meal, which made the rest of the evening very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the first impression was underwhelming and noticeably inconsistent with the level of excellence inside. When we were seated, one of the servers handed our group of three just one drinks menu, along with three regular menus. Naturally, I asked him about the steak menu so I could glance over it. His response was unexpectedly rude—he said, “I’m not your server, you’ll have to wait for him.” That attitude felt unnecessary, especially considering he had just interacted with us and partially handled the menus already. To make matters worse, there was no effort from the welcoming staff to engage with us—no introductions, no questions, no sense of hospitality that you’d expect from a high-end steakhouse. I strongly considered asking to speak with a manager, but ultimately chose not to so it wouldn’t further affect the evening. Overall, Jacob’s & Co. Steakhouse excels where it matters most—food and core service—but the welcoming experience fell short and didn’t match the restaurant’s premium reputation. With better front-of-house hospitality and a more respectful first interaction, this could easily be a flawless experience.
I finally got to try Jacobs and it lived up to the reputation. The meal started with their popover bread and garlic butter which was warm, fluffy, and genuinely tasty. The tableside Caesar salad was a nice touch with a bit of showmanship that added to the experience. The bone marrow was one of my favourite starters of the night, rich and flavourful and honestly I wish they brought more. The foie gras and baked oysters were good but nothing that really stood out. Same for the sides like the potato gratin and fries, solid but regular. But the star of the night was definitely the steak. Steak steak steak. Phenomenal. Perfect crust, juicy inside, and full of flavour. Exactly what you expect when you go to a place like Jacobs. Overall, great service, a classic steakhouse atmosphere, and the steak alone makes the visit worth it.
I came here the other day for a birthday lunch and was greeted by very friendly staff who took our coats as we arrived. The lunch menu was fairly simple, with the steak and wine menu offering more variety. The bread came out first and was absolutely delicious, with a fresh aroma that really heightened my senses. We ordered two salads, steaks, and the burger. The Caesar salad was fantastic, and they prepare it fresh right in front of you. The green salad was more tangy and slightly bitter, with a lemon vinaigrette. This was my first time trying aged steak, and while the smell was quite strong and off-putting at first, the steak itself was incredibly soft and juicy once I took a bite. The burger, on the other hand, was a bit of a miss and definitely an acquired taste. It did not have the usual texture or flavour of a typical burger, and the funky mushroomish smell was a drawback. It was still edible, but my main complaint is that it was too simple, with just the patty and sauce and nothing else. We also felt a bit rushed, as the server repeatedly came by to ask if we were finished with our salads, even though I was trying to save some to enjoy with my steak. The timing between the salads and the mains was quite long, which might have been because they wanted to clear the salads first, but in any case, the pacing of the meal could definitely be improved.
