Small sales area filled to the brim with tasty treats. No option to have there but honestly does not detract from the quality of the product. Took it home, and damn. Both pieces were somehow both light in texture and dense in flavour. The clementine jaffa cake is delightful, and very much an upgrade on the classic. The honey almond and dulcey is, well, epic; I can't do it justice by trying to describe it. Go, try their stuff. Now. Only thing I'd fault during my visit was not their fault; that reception space is very small, so as a customer try not to all gather in there. There's a sign that quite rightly asks you to aim for no more than 8 inside at a time.

Lannan on Hamilton in Edinburgh has been recently recognized as Best New Bakery in the World. People line up long before the doors open...and long after. I got into line and waited a half hour to get in on a chilly day. I ordered a few items so I could try a range of pastries. Wow. The textures and flavors are amazing. The presentation is incredible. Service is very organized and swift when you get in. I was thoroughly impressed! They also have java on site. 5 x 🥐🥐🥐🥐🥐

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS I felt the need to leave a review as I notice there have been more frequent poor reviews which do not at all reflect the bakery, from my own experience. I think some need to remind themselves that waiting for 30 mins- and hour is their own choice. This is not a fast food restaurant- it is an independent bakery. If you don’t want to wait, simply do not come here. My partner and I visited Edinburgh for our anniversary and Lannan was on the top of our list of places to visit. They did not dissapoint! We arrived 30 minutes before they opened on a Saturday morning and there was just a small queue waiting outside. A lovely member of staff greeted us and gave us a QR code for the menu. We appreciated that she reminded everyone to be respectful of residents in the area and to make sure we were not taking up the path. When we eventually came to order, the staff were friendly, considered and took great care with handling the pastries. It is clear the owner has carefully selected her staff. There was a great choice of coffee from a local roastery which my partner and I, who are baristas, really appreciated. Every single pastry we bought was beautifully crafted and delicious, which we ate throughout the day. Our favourite was the pumpkin, stem ginger, and salted chocolate pastry- so much depth of flavour and well balanced. As two people who love baking and have visited bakeries all over the UK, this was a wonderful experience. It has been 3 months since we visited and we’re still reliving the memory! We will be sure to return when we next visit Edinburgh ❤️

We queued for over an hour on a Sunday afternoon — mostly because the service, while unhurried, is truly attentive and high quality. I’d say it could be a little faster without losing its friendly touch. The pastries were good, though not outstanding; it was a nice place to try, but I probably wouldn’t return unless ordering in advance (which thankfully is possible!). My favourite pastry was the Dauphinoise with cheese and artichokes — it was truly special and definitely worth a try.

I didn’t realise the line for Lannan was that long, but I decided to wait and see what all the fuss was about; and I’m so glad I did! I ordered the cardamom sweet pastry and the vegetarian cheese focaccia, and both were absolutely delicious!!! The flavours were perfectly balanced, fresh, and clearly made with care. It was definitely on the pricier side, but completely worth it for the quality and experience. The only downside is… now I know it’s worth the hype, which means I’ll have to face that long line again next time! Totally recommend if you’re in Edinburgh and love amazing baked goods.
