While the decor is quite plain, the food and service more than makes up for it. I had meatballs in a rich tomato sauce which was so tasty then arguably the best penne arribiata I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a few.) The staff were friendly and attentive and the total bill was very reasonable. Piccolino is definitely a restaurant I intend visiting again and have no hesitation recommending them.

Tried this restaurant on a recent trip to Edinburgh, it was close to our hotel. I had fillet steak which was lovely, my partner chose chicken which was sadly dry and so hard round the edges he couldn't eat it. We did complain and got an apology. The restaurant itself was OK, but nothing special, staff were fine. It was mid-week, perhaps the place is better at the weekends but we sadly have no wish to return.

Food is really delicious and service too. However I recommend management to remove all signs or advertisements around with awards, restaurant name etc. as they don’t need to attract people. They already have very good food which will advertise them already.

Went for dinner with my family and everything was exquisite! High quality ingredients, flavorful dishes, and super lovely staff. One of the best Italian restaurants in Edinburgh. Will come back for sure.

The BEST lasagna I have ever had—hands down! This restaurant is small, cozy, and serves absolutely incredible Italian food. Every dish we ordered was outstanding, full of rich flavors and authentic taste. A special shoutout to our server, Alessandra, who was truly one of the sweetest and most welcoming people I’ve ever met. Her warmth and kindness made the experience even better. If you're visiting Edinburgh, do yourself a favor and don’t skip out on a meal here. Whether it’s lunch or dinner, you’re in for a delicious treat!
