Shape Training and Coach Taylor absolutely changed my life. I had tried other gyms and trainers in the past, but I was never able to find the right fit for me and stick with it. It wasn't until I tried Shape about three years ago that I was finally able to see progress in my health and fitness level. Squad training is an excellent blend of accountability, camaraderie, and individual attention from your coach. When I started at Shape, I could barely do simple movements, even without holding any weight at all. After working with Taylor, I'm squatting and deadlifting 100+ pounds regularly and getting stronger. Taylor is encouraging and no-nonsense. Her belief in me helped me start to believe more in myself. Now I'm in the best shape of my life and stronger than I ever thought possible. When I unfortunately moved out of the area, the cancellation process was very easy. I really miss Shape and Coach Taylor! If I move back to Pittsburgh, I will 1000000% come back to Shape.
I took one of Shape's Saturday morning Group sessions -- there was around 10 or so of us -- & the workout their trainer (Delroy) put us through was one of the more comprehensive sessions I've had the (dis)pleasure to enjoy lol. I come from a strength sport background (Strongman) for a number of years, so I've been through a variety of different types of training sessions with different focuses. This one in particular I found enriching because of how every exercise, from warmup to cooldown, fit together like a puzzle & addressed different aches / tightness / movement pattern deficiencies that I felt the benefits of for days after. My shoulders / spine / hips / knees / ankles / & even wrists felt amazing, and I got a ton of helpful feedback on how I move & how my body responds to those types of movements. Plus, the cardio element was amazingly clever -- we didn't move outside of perhaps a yoga mat sized spot on the floor, but my heart and lungs were burning well into hours later. Would highly recommend, but be ready to work. it'll suck during but that's the point, and you'll be better off because of it. do the hard thing. The guidance here is of high quality
I really enjoyed my time training at Shape Training. The staff were professional, friendly, and always willing to help. Mario and Delroy pushed me to do my best, and feel I have come out stronger. I highly recommend this gym. Great people and great atmosphere!
We think Shape Training is the best place we could have found in Pittsburgh to start our personal fitness and health journey. The staff are all very professional, the sessions are well-structured and guided, and we would love to become regular customers. Totally recommend it — 120% worth it!
I’ve been a member of Shape Training in East Liberty for a year now, and I can confidently say it has made me the strongest I’ve ever been. Before joining Shape, I was doing simple at-home workouts with dumbbells for about 1–2 years, but I found myself losing motivation and consistency. Joining Shape was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The multi-phase approach to training is smart and sets you up for success. I appreciate that I’m pushed when I need it, and I fully trust my trainer, Delroy, to step in and guide me when things get challenging. While I haven’t trained with every coach, it’s clear from the loyal community of long-term members that the entire team brings value. Each trainer has a unique style and personality, so there’s someone for every fitness preference and schedule. I love the small squad setup—training with 2–3 others not only keeps me motivated but has also helped me build a sense of community with both the trainers and fellow members. After experiencing personal loss this past year, Shape has been a grounding and positive space for me. The little details matter too—I love the flowers in the bathroom and the great music (at least when I’m there!). You can sign up for classes through the app, which is convenient, though I will say it gets clunky sometimes. Delroy is especially knowledgeable and takes the time to understand my body, my strengths, and where I need to improve. I can’t recommend Shape Training enough for anyone serious about getting stronger, building consistency, and finding a supportive community.
