It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. I have been a member at Beaver Boxing for eight years. I have taken boxing, sparring and conditioning classes. I was always proud to be a member of a club where everyone was greeted with smiles and there were supportive youth programs, women only classes and a class for people with different abilities. After a hostile takeover of the management about eight months ago the club has dramatically changed. The long time, and well loved, management was forced out. She was followed by many of the coaches that I had trained with for years. Many of the women-only classes are gone. The class supporting people with different abilities is gone. And finally, the conditioning classes are also gone. And as a final send off that summarizes the new gym culture, one of the current male coaches yelled at one of the female members of the conditioning class that “this is a boxing gym.” I am sad to say, good bye Beaver Boxing.
Stay away from this gym. The coaches are unprofessional, the atmosphere is toxic, and respect is nowhere to be found. New management has completely ruined what used to be an inclusive, friendly space. Definitely not worth your time.
This gym has completely fallen apart under the new management. The atmosphere is toxic, unprofessional, and driven by ego rather than what’s best for the members. They shut down a HIIT class that had built a supportive community, hiding behind the excuse that they “needed the space” — when in reality it was nothing more than personal politics and power trips. They don’t value their members, they don’t value community, and they clearly don’t care about fostering a positive environment. Instead of supporting people who were loyal to the gym, they pushed them out without a second thought. If you’re looking for a place that respects its members and actually encourages growth, look elsewhere.
I’m in the youth class and honestly, it’s taking way too long to move up. Like, it really shouldn’t take a whole 6-months-1 year just to get to light sparring. I get it — it’s boxing, there’s head trauma and all that, and yeah, you wanna make sure people are ready. But at the same time, not letting us spar might actually be why some people never really learn how to developed the fundamentals to spar right in the first place. I wrestle in high school, annd from my experience in combat sports you gotta apply what you learned quick cuz you’re learning early or it doesn’t stick. That’s just my review, my rating, and how I see it.” other than that everyone is nice i guess
I started lessons at another gym earlier in the year and I couldn't find some nice boxing shoes anywhere. Sure there is the online option, but like many, I like to try them out before buying. I finally found this place where they have a nice little selection and found a great fit. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for some nice boxing footwear!
