This is my son's fifth year at Calcolor! He started around four and half in Exploration class and leveled up to Foundation when he turned to seven years old. He also joined the Digital Art class since the beginning of 2025. Without extra words, one can easily tell how much he loves Calcolor :P. We love that Calcolor provides a very educational art curriculum for younger kids all the way to teens and their projects are fun, as well as introducing art skills and philosophy to students. He is with Ms Connie all the time but he also knows every other teacher and staff since sometimes we have to do make-up classes due to conflict and he is an 'old' student here lol. Every teacher and staff is super nice to the kids! Multi-media art is very popular recent years. When Calcolor opened Digital Art class in Newark site, it quickly caught our interests. My son signed the class for sure and he absolutely loved the class! Ms Yunli is a fantastic digital art teacher and she teaches the kids so many interesting projects with brilliant art ideas. I can tell everyone is super happy because when I pick up my son, the kids are always smiling at their projects :P. We will continue our journey with Calcolor for the sixth year, seventh year... Highly recommend the art classes here! I just upload his most recent digital art project sea turtle with Zentangle art. I have to cut it to three pieces since it is 90 secs long and google review only allow 30 secs for a single video.
CalColor is, without question, one of the best art academies in the Bay Area—and I say that from the heart. Both of my children absolutely love coming here. Ms. Krista, Ms. Connie, and Ms. Elina have all taught my kids at different times, and each of them has been incredibly dedicated, professional, and genuinely caring. Ms. Krista has guided one child for two years, and Ms. Connie and Ms. Elina have nurtured my other child for around one year. Their kindness and love for the students feel so real—it’s something you can see in the way the kids light up in their classes. I also want to recognize the front desk team. Breanna Dulay is always so warm, patient, and professional. Whether it’s on the phone, in person, or over email, she somehow makes every interaction easy and pleasant. Caspar is also supportive and helpful. With a team like this, it’s no wonder CalColor stands out. I sincerely hope the leadership will formally recognize these amazing educators and staff—with meaningful promotions and salary increases that reflect the value they bring every single day. Thank you, CalColor, for everything you do for the kids.
My kid has been in the Exploration class since last year and has truly enjoyed it. He always looked forward to each session, eager to learn and explore new themes. The teachers are wonderful—patient, kind, and supportive—guiding the students at their own pace and based on their interests.
My daughter enjoyed the class a lot! she is literally addicted to her teacher Ms Connie lol. Calcolor put up a 10-year anniversary art show recently and my daughter submitted an artwork and she had a blast at the exhibition!
CalColor Newark is a great place for kids to learn drawing. The room is neat and the teachers are very experienced and nice. Most importantly, they always encourage children's creativity. My daughter studies foundation class at this studio and she loves it so much. She always tells me that Mr. Alvin's teaching is really fun and I can tell she is making a lot of progresses. I would definitely recommend this studio to my friends whose kids might be interested in drawing learning.
