Visited for TR. Big gym, but not my favorite in terms of routes. I did several fun 5.9s, and there might have been plenty of fun harder climbs, but 5.10/5.10+ is my sweet spot and I had a hard time finding interesting climbs in that range. I wish the chimney wasn't restricted to autobelay, which made it harder to figure out the crux of the 5.10+ there that I thought was the most interesting 5.10 in the gym. Limited range of techniques exercised: other than the chimney 5.10+, there was barely anything I tried where I felt like thinking more would have been helpful, and I barely had an opportunity to stem. There is no real slab wall. On the plus side, the taller than usual walls are great for endurance-building.

I first came to the gym with a friend and was soon attracted to the ambience of friendly faces especially Steve(n) (Mike jk). I’ve been coming here for a couple months and I honestly love the classes you can take to get started and get comfortable. Adult team is a nice way to find friends and get input to get better (shoutout Dan(iel), Reese, and Steven). Yoga with Nozomi is up there for me, love her classes. Her ashtanga practice is grounding and authentic. I’m not sure why people think staff there is supposed to baby you based on these reviews. It’s a gym not a training school. They are supposed to show you the ropes (no pun intended) and you figure your way out (through classes, showing up, teams). And they are humans, geez some of these comments connote their one experience with the gym as a near death experience; maybe that person was going through something. Maybe I just like some people that I’ve met there but almost all of them are pretty professional and friendly. For parents, please teach your kids to say thank you to staff.

We had an amazing experience at Central Rock Gym thanks a lot to Sarah! She is super nice, professional, and incredibly kind. She noticed I was interested in trying a different level with the rope and reached out to me in the most thoughtful way, asking if I wanted to give it a try. Her empathy and encouragement made me feel comfortable and motivated. Sarah is truly a diamond of the company — her warmth and professionalism make the gym experience outstanding. Highly recommend learning from her! 💯 stars for her !

As a beginner climber, I LOVE Central Rock Buffalo and here’s why! - CLIMBING PROGRESSION CLASSES: very well taught, organized into concise modules, and they make climbing EXPONENTIALLY more fun and gratifying!! FREE with membership. Cannot recommend them enough - they are why I have maintained a regular schedule of coming to the gym. - CLIMBING ROUTES: a good variety for different “styles” and skill levels of climbing.** They have a lot of space to work with, and they use every inch. - FITNESS CLASSES: I love the circuit training and yoga classes. The circuit training classes in particular have noticeably improved BOTH my rock climbing and general quality of life. I can literally feel my brain focusing better, and have noticed the difference in ability and recovery after doing strenuous field work. The instructors are great and there is a group of regular attendees who are all super nice. Classes involves weights (choose the ones that meet your needs) and you are encouraged to move at your own pace while focusing on good form. A surprisingly chill and supportive atmosphere for sweating your butt off! **SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT to whoever arranged the V1 yellow overhang that’s there right now!! It has really helped me build up my strength, endurance — and overcome my fear of being in that super lean out position. Please keep setting easier routes in those severe lean-out areas!

Love this gym! Great climbs, great community. They change sets pretty regularly which is nice and the setters can get pretty creative. The lead climbs are fun and challenging!
