The Masters and the master's wife are great people and are very kind to everyone. My rating is based on my experience, with over a decade of Martial Arts training, as well as my expectations. The system seems geared towards moving students up quickly (having to learn one single form per belt) and less on quality and mastering techniques. I've witnessed many who've moved up without being able to properly do the movements. Like in most clubs, blackbelts will help with teaching forms and techniques. In a system like this, you get taught forms and movements that your teacher may not master themselves. Questions such as "is this a block or a strike" couldn't be answered in my case. I ask questions for clarity and understanding, as the instructions would simply be "place your arm like this" without force or precision. Inexperienced students do not know what to expect, so they won't ask these questions. I share my opinion not to discourage anyone from joining, it doesn't mean you will not enjoy your experience, many do. It's simply to inform those who might have high standards as I do, as I'm used to a traditionally strict and demanding system. (Which I've yet to find in MTL)

I have only been attending classes here for a few weeks, but I already am starting to feel better and more confident in my skin. My co-students have been very kind and welcoming to me, and Master Kin has been a serious, kind, and encouraging instructor whose mastery is obvious from his demonstrations and clear teaching. All ages and levels are welcomed and respected, and I would happily and wholeheartedlyrecommend this place to anyone even a little curious about what the study of martial arts might offer them.

The Sil Lum Hung Gar Kung Fu in Montreal ( 5 animals fist) is a great school to learn the traditional Chinese martial arts. I only have great experience and memories. I remembered starting my first martial arts school over there back in 1998. I made memorable friends and the masters are very dedicated to teach to all students. We are taught by great people and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn their very first experience of Chinese martial arts. I owned all to both Masters Hong and will be always grateful for my time there. 🙏❤️🙂

I have been a student here since early 2021, and it has been one of the best decisions I ever made. The Sifus are fantastic and keep me motivated to keep learning new things and work on improving myself physically and mentally. There are many different forms to learn, weapons and sparring training, wooden dummy work and a lot more to one day, master. The pricing model is also very compelling with flexible and unlimited time slots throughout the week. They also engage in demonstrations and community events and I hope to see more of that as well.

Starting Kung Fu as an adult in her forties felt pretty daunting but I stayed with it and after 6 months I appreciate the Masters' systematic way of teaching to build skill and confidence. Each student can progress at their preferred pace as the school allows students to join as many (or few) classes as suits them in the weekly schedule. It's a bonus for me to not have to stick to a specific time every week! The school has a diverse clientele and you'll feel at home whether you're young, old, male, female, French, English or other.
