Exterior faucets in the front and back of our home were replaced with a freeze resistant pipe and new faucets. This required the plumber cut into the brick wall to access the pipes. Plumbing was performed by one employee on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the brick was not salvaged by the plumber who performed the work. Today Milestone sent Brian Miller out to repair the brick and mortar. Brian did an excellent job matching brick and installing the same. Thank you Brian for taking pride in your work and for doing such a fine job. Additionally, I wish to thank Chad Molock who originally quoted the job and CJ in Milestone’s office for addressing my concerns with the original exterior repair. Five Stars!
I rarely leave 1-star reviews, but a past personal experience with Milestone, specifically technician Jose G. 100% warrants it. So read my personal opinion on our personal experience, if you want to potentially save thousands of dollars from used car salesmen-like tactics. Our 1st floor HVAC unit did not blow cold air when the AC was turned on. The fan was running, but wasn't blowing cold air when we dialed down the temperature. I called Milestone for a diagnosis, which they charge $99 for a service call. Here's what Jose diagnosed from his brief visit, as per his documentation: * Unit starter burnt * Motor leaking * Duel[sic] controller leaking Because our 2nd floor attic ladder access to the HVAC units was original wooden builder-grade from the early 90's and became unstable/wobbly years of usage by the previous homeowner, Jose refused to climb into the attic to examine the 1st floor HVAC unit, but was glad to charge us $99 for a partial diagnosis of the outdoor condenser. I wouldn't be as miffed if he charged us half. He's also glad to quote us a new attic ladder using Milestone's affiliate, Hank's Handyman service, more details below. Here's what we were quoted. [Option A] $4,190 to replace duel[sic] controller, unit starter, outdoor motor and attic ladder. [Option B] $2,251 same as Option A but without attic ladder (so Milestone, or just Jose, wants me to pay $1,939 for an attic ladder replacement and pocket $1k in profit). [Option C] $808 to replace "the defective part only," according to Jose. Naturally being the salesmen that he is, and relying on what he thought was my ignorance, he recommended a whole-home solution, i.e. replacing our entire HVAC unit with an ultra high efficient dual-speed system for $25~$30k. We hired Dragon Air Services in Plano for a second opinion and they quickly diagnosed that the contactor (basically a $16~$20 electrical relay) in the outdoor condenser unit was fried from arcing, due to a loose 24v wire connection and they replaced it on the spot. They checked the refrigerant level and recommended that we add refrigerant to our downstairs unit. They also went up our attic to inspect our HVAC units and made professional and honest recommendations (i.e. that our 2nd floor unit is still in great shape), despite the wobbly attic ladder. We were charged less than a quarter of Milestone's Option C by Dragon for the service call, parts and labor. And no where did they find a burnt starter, leaking motor or "duel controller leaking." Moral of the story? Get quotes from at least three contractors and always have second opinions. A $20 part (Jard brand 1.5 pole definite purpose contactor) which you can buy from SupplyHouse.com and get it within a day, and fix it yourself in 20 minutes (which I eventually ended up doing with our 2nd floor unit) and Milestone wanted up to $4,190. How the HECK do you even justify and arrive at "unit starter burnt, motor leaking and duel controller leaking" from a burnt $20 contactor and without looking at the air handler in the attic? What EVEN is a "duel[sic] controller"??? I'm guessing Milestone techs get some kind of fluffy commission or kickback while preying on HVAC-ignorant customers for this kind of garbage to occur. Knowing what I know now, do yourself a favor and keep a few capacitors and contactors on hand so you'll be ready when they fail. They'll cost you no more than $50 total. Watch some YouTube videos and perform these simple DIY 20-minute repairs yourself when you it's time and save hundreds if not potentially thousands of dollars. And our wobbly attic ladder that Jose refused to climb? We had it replaced for $995 through SafeLifts of Texas (read my separate review on them).
Scott Wagley provided electrical services today as part of a tankless water heater installation. He was very professional, and diligent in ensuring we were informed about the pros and cons of the different options available to us, while remaining sensitive to what was most important to us. He went above and beyond by ensuring past work by Milestone was done correctly and addressing concerns noted. We would definitely feel comfortable using Scott for electrical needs in the future. Jordan Cooper provided installation of the water heater and he also did a wonderful job. The installation was done efficiently and he was proactive in managing any unexpected circumstances that arose. Afterwards he explained all we needed to know about caring for the equipment and what to expect following our appointment. We would use Jordan again in the future.
Amazing!! When I initially tried to book an appointment the website declined me, but immediately someone called me and took a care of me. Phone customer service, stellar. Ricardo, our technician, if I could give him 10 stars I would. Professional. Detailed. Patient and informative. He took his time and explained everything to us so we understood the issues as well to prepare for needs to be done down the line. Highly recommend Milestone and their team!! Thank you.
I had an outstanding experience with Akex Dominguez, the HVAC technician today. From the moment he arrived, he was friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took the time to thoroughly explain the entire program, what needed attention, and why. I really appreciated how clearly he broke everything down and offered honest, helpful suggestions without any pressure. His attention to detail, patience, and excellent customer service truly set him apart. It’s rare to find someone who not only knows their craft but also cares about making sure the customer understands and feels comfortable. Highly recommend—excellent service from start to finish!
