Why isn't there mat spray in the hot room for anyone??? It's hot yoga for crying out loud, everyone is dripping sweat. It's literally the reason I stopped coming after my intro month. I could go on and on, but such a small thing would make for a much better experience. Not to mention preventing colds and sickness, and overall cleanliness. Seems crazy that I seem like the only one who thinks this is a problem. Giving 3 stars because I do actually like the location, classes and teachers. Edit: I did ask for mat spray just today at the Stoney Creek location and the staff just said no, sorry. They did not offer any solutions. Which is weird because I have been doing yoga for over 20 years in many locations and this is the first place I have had this issue.
Days later I am still thinking about the New Year’s Eve Candlelight Yoga experience at Modo Yoga Stoney Creek. It felt like stepping into a quiet, intentional pause before the year turned. The candlelit practice, paired with gentle guidance and meditation, created a calm, steady space that allowed me to slow down and truly settle into my body. The focus on release and renewal was present in a subtle, meaningful way from beginning to end. The class Lisa Dahl facilitated was thoughtful and intentional. The celebration included beautiful homemade cookies. It was a deeply nourishing way to close one chapter and arrive into the next with clarity, calm, and intention.
I had such a beautiful experience at Modo Yoga Stoney Creek during their New Year’s Eve Candlelight Yoga: Release, Renew, Begin Again event. The guided meditation and 90-minute candlelight class were deeply grounding and restorative, and the pacing allowed me to truly connect with my breath and body. The intention of releasing the past and welcoming what’s to come was beautifully woven throughout the entire class. The thoughtful touches like alcohol-free celebratory drinks, snacks, and take-home gifts made it feel like a true celebration of renewal rather than just another class. What stood out the most, though, was how the experience stayed with me — the next day I felt an incredible sense of release, and I slept better than I have in a long time. This class was the perfect way to honor the year that was, while stepping into the new one with clarity, calm, and gratitude. I’m so thankful to the Modo Yoga Stoney Creek team, most especially to their instructor, Lisa Dahl, for creating such a nourishing and memorable NYE experience. ✨🕯️🧘♀️
Very corporate approach. They put all these “systems” in place to automate the process but forget to teach staff how to communicate information with the clients. I’ve tried around 7 yoga studios in Hamilton/Toronto and this studio felt just too sterile.
Wonderful yoga studio! It's become my home away from home. I started here with no yoga experience of any kind, and so was pretty nervous ahead of my first class. The instructors are super-friendly, though, and the studio is small, comfortable and easy to navigate. The space is clean and very well maintained. Plenty of well-lit parking and places to store your belongings during class. I love the classes. It's been a nice surprise to see how each class includes guidance for beginner, moderate and advanced poses. The diversity of people attending has also been really nice to see - ages seeming to range from early 20s to 70s or more, a mix of genders, different racial/ethnic backgrounds, and a wide variety of body types and skill levels. It is very easy to fit right in and I never feel out of place. For beginners, I highly recommend starting with the SSU classes, then working up to Modo/Hatha and then Flow. I haven't felt skilled enough to try the Yoga Mix or Barre/Pilates classes, but eventually will get there. :) There's plenty of classes to choose from and I've rarely had difficulty finding a spot in the class. Thanks Modo Stoney Creek - your team is fantastic and I appreciate the wonderful space you've created for the Stoney Creek community!
