Dr. Heisune and marcelina are the best. My son is autistic and has a hard time at the dentist. I highly recommend if you have a autistic child you try out UW pediatrics they are the best!!
For the most part, the nurses and doctors here are great. We loved our primary physician. I have a lot of respect and empathy for healthcare workers. They have a tough, and often thankless, job. However, there is a single person at this office who is a blight on the institution. Nurse Leann. It's important for families to understand that, if you encounter this person, you may not speak to someone who actually cares about their wellbeing of your child. Perhaps luckily, my experiences with this person were all on the phone while she worked the nurse help line. If you have the misfortune of catching one of the days this provider is working the phone line, based on our experience, your call inevitably takes one of two routes: - Your child is not sick enough to qualify for an appointment, and you should feel silly for calling. - Your child is too sick and should go to the ER, and you are a bad parent for not taking them already. The one time we did somehow get past her gatekeeping (the front office staff scheduled an appointment for us without her “authorization”—and she made it very clear how upset she was by that), the doctor expressed that he was glad we took our child in—our child’s rash had become infected. This was just hours after, having described these same seemingly obvious symptoms to her, she dismissed the symptoms as “a basic diaper rash." We understand the need to protect providers’ time. Not everything is an emergency. And for the record, other nurses we spoke to over the phone here were both practical and empathetic. We followed their advice, which sometimes was to watch and wait (or to escalate). I wish this person spent the same effort actually listening to parents—and the sick children they’re advocating for—instead of guarding her straw castle.
If you’re considering bringing your newborn or infant here, run — don’t walk — in the opposite direction. My experience was beyond disappointing. Instead of feeling supported, cared for, or reassured, I left every visit more stressed, more overwhelmed, and more frustrated. I genuinely felt like the staff didn’t listen, didn’t communicate well, and didn’t show the patience or compassion that pediatric care should provide. As a parent, you come in scared and looking for guidance, but I walked out feeling worse each time. Nothing about my visits made me feel confident in the care my child was receiving. This place caused more anxiety than comfort, and based on my experience, I absolutely do not recommend it. Parents deserve better.
Pediatric allergist was wonderful. It has stupid HIPPA law prevent us not to be able to see our kid medical bill. Under the HIPPA law, all the teenagers are supposed to have credit card, debit card, bank account in order to pay the bills? I requested the medical bills but I was told I was not able to access the medical bills at all. We just visited and established food allergy care. Something is very very wrong.
The doctors are fine but its just run very poorly. First I was told that I couldn't bring my toddler to my infant's doctors appointment. Which is a joke. They told me I could bring him if I had someone else to watch him in the waiting room... If I had a babysitter why would I bring him?? Then I tried to schedule my son's next appointment, but apparently they don't schedule out farther than two months. There is no way I'm going to remember to call in a month to schedule an appointment. It doesn't matter anyway because they give you no help in scheduling the appointment anyway. I got it scheduled and then got a call a couple days before saying that since the appointment is a day before he turns six months, we have to come in another day to get his shots. That would have been a fantastic thing to have been told when I scheduled the appointment, but instead I am scrambling to change my work schedule. I liked my doctor well enough but I can't justify coming back if it's going to be this much of a pain just to get in every time.
