If you value your time, your credit score, and your privacy, do not sign a contract here. Powerhouse Gym uses ABC Fitness for their billing, a company notorious for predatory "vulture" tactics designed to make cancellation impossible. I attempted to cancel my membership and was met with a series of invasive, likely illegal hurdles. They demanded my private medical information and a copy of my residential lease just to stop charging me. Under the New York Health Club Services Act, they are required to process cancellations within 10 business days. Furthermore, as of February 2025, NY law (S932D) mandates that if you can sign up online, they must allow you to cancel through a simple online "click-to-cancel" mechanism—no lease or doctor's note required for a standard request. Powerhouse and ABC Fitness ignore these consumer protections. They will continue to bill you for a service you aren't using and then threaten you with debt collectors to bully you into paying. This isn't a gym; it's a debt trap disguised as a fitness center. Save yourself the headache: Go to a gym that respects NY state law and doesn't treat its members like a line of credit.
