Ive been here twice for the slow flow class on Tuesday morning and both times it wasn’t that slow. It was hard for me to keep up with the verbal instructions as well. I had to look around the room a lot to see what other people were doing to get into the correct shapes. I had a lot of fun though, lots of balancing poses that feel like play, especially if you lose your balance! I really like the studio space, not too crowded. I wish the teacher took time to do body adjustments. I’m having trouble finding a studio/teacher in Sac that does adjustments during a class which kind of defeats the purpose of spending money to go to a professional class for me… I can just do yoga at home on YouTube for a similar experience.
I haven't been to Solfire Yoga since Covid. When my friend invited me to join her on Sunday community class, I took it as a sign to get back to yoga. If you haven't been to Solfire Yoga, it is a nice yoga studio on J and 26th St. with one large ish room. There are cubbies to put your personal items in the front and in the back. If you don't have a yoga mat or forget to bring one, they do have extras for you to borrow. I believe every Sunday they offer this 60 minutes Power Vinyasa class in the heated room using infrared heaters. This is a community offering, which means you pay what you can. The room was packed and I was literally touching the person next to me. The instructor was great. I think her name was Julie? Her instructions was clear and the pace was perfect for me. I don't consider myself a yogi. I know the basics and I was able to follow through without a problem. I think its suitable for beginners. At the end of the class, I was drenched, covered in sweats and felt so good! 5 stars for the instructors, facility and the community offering, but I have to say I will probably not take the same class again. It was way too packed for me, like sardine packed. Also, as soon as I entered the room, there was a strong BO and the smell lingered throughout the entire class. I almost wanted to vomit at one point. I know this has nothing to do with the establishment. I'm mentioning it because I'm hoping people can be more considerate about their hygiene. It just took away what could have been the best yoga class for me.
i don’t know if maybe i just had a bad experience but i felt extremely judged in my class and the environment was not great. i didn’t really feel welcome there. the actual class itself was pretty good but also i didn’t feel like i had a lot of time to drink water and rest and it felt very advanced despite being all skill levels. also, the bathrooms were really unfinished and overall not great. i was considering getting a membership here but i’m not sure after this. again maybe i just came on an off day?
Love, love, love this studio. I love how every teacher is just a little different and challenging in their own way. Some of my favorite teachers include Emily R, Melissa S, and Sam C--but I haven't had a teacher I don't enjoy. Would recommend to anyone looking for yoga for the soul/spiritual journey and/or for fitness. Thank you Blake for creating such a beautiful space!
I’ve been attending classes at Solfire Yoga for over a year and can highly recommend it. Mostly I’ve taken the noon All Levels classes. These classes are heated & you should be prepared to sweat. All of the instructors I’ve had, including the subs, are consistently good. I always leave feeling that I just did something very good for myself, on all levels. I also have been a huge fan of the Sunday afternoon Slow Flow & Yin classes with Cate Lewis--the perfect way to wrap up the weekend and treat yourself to a little TLC. Shout out to the entire staff who are always friendly and welcoming. I felt right at home from the start.
