I hate writing negative reviews about places but I felt like I should for anyone who is looking to go to a positive uplifting yoga class. I had Liz as my instructor and she was very unprofessional. She was just talking about her life and very personal things and she said multiple things that really made the vibe of the class pretty negative. She was telling the class that she used to be a sex ed teacher and that she had a student that asked a very personal question relating to his genitals and she was telling the class about it and laughing . Very insensitive and very disrespectful and that was one of the multiple things that she said that made me want to leave.I will not be back.
I love everything about the studio! From the moment you walk in, their charming wonky front door, you are greeted with such welcoming warmth, providing the perfect prelude to a physical/energetic/spiritual experience. I was passing through the area from Chicago and caught the evening class with Madeleine. Her class was the perfect little break to unwind and reconnect with my spirit before continuing on my travels. I’ve been to the studio about eight years ago and had a very similar experience with another teacher , which I think goes to show how dedicated they are about providing people with an amazing experience. I also love and deeply appreciate that they have a little locker room where you can take a shower after class. The building itself is adorable, cozy, and full of historic charm and architectural accents. Ask them who owns the building before the current owners… It’ll be a fun surprise for you. ;)
I was first introduced to Shakti Power Yoga while visiting Nashville, and from the moment I walked through the door, I knew it was a special, welcoming community. So much so that just three days after moving here, I dove into their 200-hour RYT Yoga Teacher Training! Shakti created a space that felt safe, inclusive, fun, and deeply challenging in all the right ways. The training ignited a deep exploration of my own practice—both on and off the mat—and inspired a lasting dedication to sharing yoga authentically in the world. I’m endlessly grateful for the teachers, the community, and the spirit of Shakti. If you’re in Nashville and looking for a place that truly embodies the heart of yoga, look no further.
I dropped into Shakti Power Yoga when visiting Nashville. Very friendly and helpful front desk, answered all questions, and seamless mat and towel rental. Very good community vibe and easy to instantly feel included. The class itself was very crowded (i guess they are popular for a reason!!) but the instructor walked around the room and it didn't take away from the flow. The instructor actually gave me a specific helpful tip for my wheel pose which I will be taking with me — and was probably worth the class fee itself! Overall, would highly recommend this studio for drop-ins and would 100% go back if I return to Nashville.
The studio is lovely and clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I had no trouble finding parking, and they let me park in the lot early while I walked around the neighborhood before class (I was visiting from out of town). The class was great – challenging in all the best ways! Other students were friendly and chatting before and after class, and I can tell there's a great sense of community at Shakti. I will definitely come again the next time I'm in town and will tell others about the studio.
