From the friendliest staff you’ll ever meet to the chillest gym you’ll ever climb in, the vibes here are perfect. My wife and I have been going regularly for a year and a half with a membership, and we absolutely love TCB. One of my worries starting here is that we were complete beginners, and I was afraid I’d feel judged or discouraged by others. The opposite is true, and we stuck here. And it’s not just climbing - they have a full gym, yoga studio, host members events, and have a lounge area the constantly has a community puzzle going
I like the gym. Way less crowded than MBP. It’s feels a little lifeless but hey, it’s a gym not some luxury hotel. I do like the giant monstera plant and snake plant they have. The weights and equipment room is great. The setting is hit or miss. The staff is very nice!
VE was on a roll when this opened before COVID. Bloomington was great and Twin Cities Bouldering was awesome too. I lived in a nearby neighborhood when this place opened and it was great. Routes back then went all the way to the top of walls and have now been reduced by a few feet in some cases, probably due to falling injuries. I've occasionally been back and the old warehouse vibe is still unique, but a lot of the wall surface coatings they use, especially at the start of routes, has eroded or been dusted off. Also, the overall vibe has shifted here. Their competitor, the Bouldering Project feels like the hot place or the place to be. I'm not sure if it's the size of the walls, the routes, or culture but it's noticeable to me. Also, speaking with some bias, I've seen some mid-grade routes where it feels like the crux is at the very top of the route, which felt sketchy, but this may only be a reflection of my most recent visit. Regardless of my criticism, if I lived closer, I'd be a more frequent customer. I enjoyed using the main workout area of TCB and the auxiliary workout area near the Yoga studio.
Large free parking lot. This is a challenging and unique bouldering gym. The workout area is very nice and has anything you need. There are multiple areas for hanging boarding and warming up and stretching. And they have yoga classes and other things included in the membership. I also have hot coffee if needed! Edit: they update the routes pretty frequently, And they have a room where you can chill and either work from your computer or do puzzles! They also have a patio area that usually has plants and things as well.
Just visited the Twin Cuties Bouldering gym for the first time while volunteering for Octboulder fest today and yesterday. From all the rock climbing I’ve done I can for sure say this is the best gym I have ever been to. If you are looking to become a stronger climber this is the place to be. Great training area equip with multiple hang boards, a moon board and other great climbing practice tools. As far as the rest of the gym, there is bouldering for all skill levels and the settlers have done a great job at creating some very unique courses that are a blast to figure out. Lastly the staff, they are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and give great advice if you ever need any. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun time. :)
